Description

Gravity has been awarded the sole rights to operate commercial sea kayaking trips in the beautiful West Coast National Park. We have also established a very special wilderness beach camp to accommodate overnight trips as well as those who are not keen on paddling but just want to experience this unique getaway.  With the jewel-like Langebaan Lagoon as its centerpiece, this park offers adventurers something different. Stunning bird life, magnificent scenery, excellent local seafood and exciting fishing are just some of the elements that make the 'weskus' so special.

We offer a variety of day trips as well as a unique one or two day option overnighting in our beach camp in the heart of the wilderness zone of the park. All our trips are suitable for paddlers of all skill levels and are especially fun for families with kids. The overnight trips are run as fully catered wilderness trips. Trips are usually run from our beach, Flaming Jo's and a typical two day, one night trip starts with a full days paddling on the lagoon. After a couple of hours of paddling and birdwatching, you'll stop for lunch on one of the lovely white sand beaches. After that, we'll head for our beach camp in the heart of the park. Here, you'll be secluded from the crowds and your only company will be your fellow paddlers and guides and the many flamingos, pelicans and other birds and small game that make their home here. Relax in a hammock or go for a walk, followed by sundowner snacks and a delicious meal around the fire. Wake to sounds of the lagoon and a deserted beach. After a hearty breakfast, we'll take a leisurely paddle along a different route and the trip will end with lunch. The trip can be extended to two or more nights if required. The beach camp is right on the beach with the central thatched social area offering wrap around views of the beach and bush. The kitchen, lounge and dining areas are here, with the accommodation set back from the beach. Walk in canvas tents on decks, each equipped with camp beds and chairs provide the accommodation. Ablutions consist of enviro-loos and hot water bucket shower with the best bathroom views you've ever seen!

5 x 2 person dome tents (1 with a double bed, 3 with 2 singles in each)
2 x cottage "family" tents (each with a double bed + 2 singles)

Family friendly features include camp cots, kiddy sized PFDs ('lifejackets') and great guides who enjoy kids. We also make an effort to accommodate your kids with regards to menus, meals times etc.
