Description

Sandybanks is situated on Thesen Island, on the water's edge of Knysna Lagoon. It has beautiful views across the lagoon back to Knysna Quays and Knysna town.

Sandybanks is a stunning self catering holiday villa on Thesen Islands, an exclusive destination in the middle of Knysna Lagoon, in the heart of the Garden Route. The house is situated right on the edge of Knysna Lagoon and has wonderful ever changing tidal views over the lagoon looking towards Knysna Quays and Knysna Town. The house sleeps 2-8 guests in luxury, and the accommodation is stylish and modern, with spacious open plan living areas, decks for al fresco dining, and a salt chlorinated swimming pool. We have a jetty on the island waterways for guests who wish to bring their own boat and two kayaks and two bicycles for anyone feeling adventurous. Sandybanks is conveniently located no more than a short walk away from Knysna Town and the restaurants at Thesen Harbour Town and Knysna Quays.
 

Accommodation

The house offers flexible accommodation for 2 - 8 guests. There is a 3 bedroom "boathouse" sleeping 6 and a one bedroom "boathouse" sleeping 2, which can be combined into a single unit sleeping 8. Both units are fully equipped and offer luxury accommodation. All linen and bath towels are provided and guests just need to bring beach towels.

The 3 bedroom unit is modern with an open plan living area and wonderful lagoon views. The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom with bath and shower and a balcony overlooking the lagoon. There are two other bedrooms and a family bathroom also with bath and shower. Outside there are decks for al fresco dining and a salt chlorinated swimming pool.

The 1 bedroom unit is one of the nicest you are likely to find in Knysna. It is extremely spacious and also has wonderful views across the lagoon. It has its own lounge with wood burning stove, a fully equipped kitchen, and a separate dining area. Upstairs there is a spacious bedroom with twin beds, a balcony overlooking the lagoon, and a luxury en suite with bath, shower, and double vanity.

We have two bicycles and two Kayaks that guests are most welcome to use to explore the islands.

Rates from 800 Rand/night for the one bedroom boathouse to 4000 Rand/night for the entire house during peak season

Directions

Directions from George: Travelling along the N2: once on the lagoon road leading to Knysna, turn right at the first set of traffic lights into Waterfront Drive. Continue along this road and turn right at the second set of traffic lights into Long Street (you will see Tait Marine on the left hand side). You are now on the causeway to Thesen Islands. Continue over the small bridge and turn first left - the gatehouse to the residential homes will be in front of you.
